Ideas for celebrating as a troop

Compiled from brainstorming sessions at the September 2000 Association Leader's meeting
  • Have an actual party
  • Bring a gift, then give it to charity
  • Do a service project
  • Read a story about Juliette Low
  • Go camping!!
  • Go on a hike!
  • Make trefoil cookies
  • Make a Juliette Low Birthday basket with cake mix and party supplies and give it to another troop
  • Costume party with trefoil cake to celebrate Juliette's birthday
  • Era-appropriate activities: clay, basketball, taffy pull
  • Juliette Low songs
  • Discuss who/what/why Juliette Low was important to Girl Scouting
  • Bake a cake in a box oven
Trefoil cake: Make two boxes of cake mix, any flavor in 2 round 8 inch pans, and 1 square 8 inch pan. Bake cakes per recipe. Cut round cakes in half, so that you have four halves. Cut one of the halves into a triangle. Place the round halves on three sides of the square cake, and the triangle on the fourth side. Ice with green and white frosting.

A Trefoil Cake!

More ideas from our leaders:

  • All the girls brought the address of someone they wished to write a message to and then we talked about Juliette and Daisy's love of writing letters. The girls all wrote a Halloween postcard to a friend or relative that we mailed off that day.
  • We put on polka music and all danced the polka, one of Juliette's favorite dances.

Share your ideas with others! email your successful ideas for Juliette Low's Birthday and they will be added to this page.
