Other Ideas Welcome Throughout the Year

  • Make Birthday Bags for Monument Crisis Center and shelters - include a cake mix, frosting, cake pan, candles, individual juice boxes, balloons, streamers, etc.
  • Create Handmade Cards with a special theme during any time of the year. These can go to isolated senior citizens.
  • Create Movie To Go Bags for children and teens in a family shelter. Decorate lunch size paper bags with a movie theme. Put candy in the bags and seal. Provide a new DVD and microwave popcorn and provide to a shelter to have a Movie Night.
  • Create Breakfast Baskets/Bags for low-income seniors. Decorate a bag or use a basket and add non-perishable breakfast items such as breakfast bars, packets of tea and coffee, packages of instant oatmeal, dried fruit, small juice boxes, hot chocolate packets, etc. Not the most nutritious (lots of sugar) but the seniors love them.
  • Make Toiletry Kits for individuals and families in shelters. Collect hotel toiletries and add in a toothbrush/toothpaste, washcloth, comb, etc. Place in a decorated cellophane bag (or your own decorated bag) and tie a ribbon to brighten the bag.
  • Make Activity Bags for a local children's hospital. The activity could be a fun holiday themed craft that the patient could do at their bedside. Include all of the activity's ingredients and instructions for the activity. Place all in a zip-lock bag. Make enough for 30 to 40 children. The hospital will provide the activities to the children to help pass the lonely times of the day.
