MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Welcome back to another school year! I am looking forward to serving another year as the Chair of Pleasant Hill Girl Scout Association. I have been working on the Super Troop application forms. You may notice there have been some changes made. All the changes were made based on suggestions taken from last year's Super Troop Evaluations. Last year we had over 30 Super Troops and Super Daisies. I am hoping this year is as successful.

We are also going to offer a new "Service Project Board". The board will be a bulletin board with ideas and available service projects. It will be available at leader meetings. Please feel free to add ideas and to utilize it to generate ideas of service projects your own troop can participate in.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or ideas for this coming year.

Thank you, Peggy Wallace

MESSAGE FROM THE COORDINATOR

Welcome back Girl Scouts and Leaders to an exciting year of fun and enjoyment in the Pleasant Hill Girl Scout Association. The Adult Coordinating Team is working hard to put together quality Girl Scout events and is looking forward to working together with girls and leaders to inspire memorable times in girl scouting.

This year, Association Girl Scout Troops may volunteer to

1) Present a flag ceremony at our leader meetings 2) Lead the Girl Scout Promise and Law or 3) Share a Girl Scout Game, Craft or Song. Let me know if your troop would like to sign up to participate.

We will see all of you at the Leader Meetings. You will not want to miss all the helpful information and happenings in our Association this year.

New Website!! www.phgsa.org

The Pleasant Hill Association web site opened for business in December 1998. The site currently includes a meeting and events calendar, roster of ACT members, information about upcoming events, Super Troop requirements, issues of NUGGETS, and information about our Association Library.

After visiting our web site, please make suggestions for additions, deletions and modifications. This is a site in progress, and its purpose is to provide another way to make information available to all of us.

If your troop has a web site and you would like the Pleasant Hill Association to link to it, send an email to webscout@phgsa.org. If you plan an association-wide event, be sure and send a notice to webscout@phgsa.org, so the information will be posted on the web site.

We are linked from the San Francisco Bay Girl Scout Council "Links" page.

Visit our web site at http:/www.phgsa.org , and of course, be sure and make a bookmark.

TROOP NEWS

WHEEEEE! That was fun!", was what most of the participants said at the Four Winds Challenge by Choice ropes course. Everyone had fun from doing the low elements, which are more teamwork and problem solving, to doing the high elements (which are REALLY high!) that build confidence. Everyone said they'd do it again in a minute!

As Brownies we participated in a service project for our school. We bought and painted trash cans for the school yard. The trash cans were greatly needed. This year, we are enjoying seeing the trash cans we decorated. Not only was it a fun project, it really benefitted our school and ALL the kids at school!
